Tenders are invited for Agriculture Consultant. Closing Date: Monday, 10. Aug 2026 Intervention Sector(s): Agriculture Remuneration range: > 6000 (USD) Duration of Contract: The contract will be for 6 month Extendable Under the livelihoods component, the project includes agriculture-based assistance targeting smallholder farmers to stabilize production, improve resilience, and reduce negative coping strategies. Given ongoing economic challenges, climate constraints, and fluctuating input markets, SIF seeks to recruit an Agriculture Consultant to provide technical expertise for the design, implementation, and monitoring of agriculture interventions. 2. Objective of the Assignment The objective of this consultancy is to provide technical and operational support to ensure agriculture interventions are: Context-appropriate and seasonally relevant Technically sound and environmentally responsible Conflict-sensitive and aligned with Do No Harm principles Feasible within emergency and early recovery programming standards The consultant will contribute to strengthening farmers productivity, resilience, and sustainability under the project. 3. Scope of Work The Agriculture Consultant will be responsible for the following tasks: A. Assessment & Analysis Conduct or support rapid agriculture and market assessments. Review secondary data and validate findings through field visits and consultations. Identify priority crops, production cycles, and seasonal risks in Saida and Jezzine. Conduct participatory consultations with farmers and local stakeholders. Design and deliver targeted awareness/training sessions on: Soil management Irrigation practices Appropriate fertilizer use Climate-smart and sustainable agriculture practices Any other relevant topic B. Technical Design & Planning Provide technical advice on the design of agriculture activities. Recommend suitable intervention modalities (cash, in-kind). Define input specifications and promote sustainable farming practices. Ensure integration of environmental safeguards and conflict sensitivity considerations. C. Implementation Support Provide technical guidance during implementation of agriculture activities. Conduct field monitoring visits to assess application of improved practices. Provide on-the-job technical advice to field teams and partners. Identify operational challenges and recommend corrective measures. D. Monitoring, Reporting & Learning Provide technical follow-up during implementation. Review monitoring findings and suggest improvements. Provide short technical notes and contribute to final reporting. 4. Deliverables The Agriculture Consultant is expected to deliver: Agriculture assessment findings and technical notes Technical recommendations and intervention design guidance Input specifications and implementation support tools Field follow-up and monitoring notes Final consultancy report summarizing activities, findings, and recommendations Any additional technical briefs required under the project 5. Duration & Timeline Consultancy period: Up to 9 months (AprilDecember 2026, as needed). Field presence required in Saida and Jezzine. A detailed work plan and deliverable timeline will be agreed upon at contract signature. 6. Required Qualifications University degree in Agronomy, Agriculture, Rural Development, or related field. Minimum 5 years of experience in agriculture programming, preferably in humanitarian or early recovery settings. Proven experience working with smallholder farmers in Lebanon. Strong knowledge of cash-for-agriculture modalities. Experience working with NGOs and local partners. Strong analytical, reporting, and facilitation skills. Fluency in Arabic; working knowledge of English is an asset. 7. Reporting & Coordination The Agriculture Consultant will report directly to the Livelihoods Project Manager and coordinate closely with the Livelihoods team. All outputs must align with approved project objectives, indicators, and SIF procedures. 8. Payment Terms The Agriculture Consultant will be contracted in accordance with SIF policies. Payment modality will be defined based on the consultancy agreement and will be subject to satisfactory delivery of agreed deliverables.
