Description: The overall objective of the study is to assess the preparedness of EU enlargement countries for the development and governance of Artificial Intelligence in relation to EU strategic priorities. Specific objectives include: - Assess the readiness of enlargement countries to address opportunities and challenges related to AI development and adoption. - Analyse the specificities of the AI industry ecosystem, including companies, universities, and research institutes. - Review relevant national policies and strategic initiatives related to AI and digital technologies. - Evaluate regulatory preparedness, including the degree of alignment with EU regulatory frameworks. - Identify key sectors and fields of application of AI. - Provide targeted recommendations for supporting AI ecosystem development and regulatory convergence with the EU. The contractor will pursue these objectives throughout the entire duration of the contract, ensuring a consistent, systematic, and evidence-based approach to delivering the intended analytical and policy-relevant outputs.
