In Late 2025, Cahiracon Point, Co. Clare Was Selected By Gas Network Ireland As The Preferred Site For A Proposed National Strategic Gas Emergency Reserve (Sger). The Sger Will Involve The Construction Of A New Berth With Liquified Natural Gas (Lng) Being Imported And Stored On Board A Floating Storage And Regasification Unit (Fsru) To Be Moored At The Berth.
