Work Detail
Engineering-Design Services For Traffic Installations – Redevelopment Of Rue De Madretsch West – Traffic Support Measures (Mac). Description Of The Project 1) Initial Situation The Commissioning Of The Eastern Bypass Of The A5 Made It Possible To Transfer Part Of The Motorized Traffic Onto The Motorway, Thus Relieving The Urban Network. The Traffic Support Measures (Mac) Aim To Take Advantage Of This Load Shedding To Improve The Attractiveness Of Urban Space And Strengthen Public Transport As Well As Cycling And Pedestrian Mobility. On The Basis Of The Mac Master Plan, The City Of Bienne Commissioned A Preliminary Study In Order To Define The Modalities For Implementing These Measures. These Pursue Two Complementary Objectives: To Consolidate The Load Shedding Effect Of The A5 And To Exploit The Room For Maneuver Thus Created To Optimize Both The Management Of The Road Network And The Development Of Public Spaces. They Are Based On The Following Planning Principles: · Shift Transit Traffic Onto The High-Volume Road Network. · Concentrate Residual Motorized Traffic On A Limited Number Of Main Roads, The Other Roads Being Reserved For Neighborhood Services. · Take Advantage Of The Capacity Released To Improve Travel Conditions, While Respecting The Urban Living Environment. 2) Objectives Of The Project The Homes Located Along Rue De Madretsch Have Long Suffered From Nuisances Linked To Significant Motorized Traffic. The Opening Of The Eastern Branch Has Already Made It Possible To Reduce This Load. However, The Western Section Of Rue De Madretsch Remains Today Mainly Oriented Towards Individual Motorized Traffic. The Aim Of The Project Is To Reverse This Trend Through Different Measures. Over The Entire Section, It Is Planned To Reduce Traffic Speed And Resize The Roadway In Order To Limit Its Road Character. This Will Be Achieved In Particular With The Help Of A Versatile Central Band. These Developments Will: · Harmonize The Speed Of Motorized Traffic With That Of Cycles, · Facilitate Pedestrian Crossings (In Particular By Promoting Free Crossings), · Reduce The Cutting Effect Generated By The Road. Furthermore, The Project Aims To Strengthen The Urban Character Of The Sector Through: · Quality Urban Planning And Landscape Enhancement, · Improvement Of Public Transport Stops, · Transformation Of Certain Parking Spaces Into Meeting Spaces. Please Note That This Project Is Carried Out In Collaboration With Esb. The Latter Aim To Create A Remote Heating Network As Well As The Sanitation Of The Electricity, Gas And Water Networks. This Work Is Described Below And Is Planned For 2027.
