The Heilig Geesthuis Almshouse Consists Of Four Buildings Arranged Around A Courtyard. The Buildings Are Named As Follows In The File; Front Building A, West Wing Building B, Rear Building C And East Wing Building D. After Extensive Restoration, The Building Ensemble Will Be Repurposed As House Of The Child. The Buildings Are Adapted To The Technical And Comfort Requirements Of The House Of The Child, With Attention To Energy, Sustainability, Accessibility, Child Safety And Fire. The Building Envelope Of Buildings A And C Are Being Thoroughly Renovated (Repair Of Facade Elements, Renewal Or Restoration Of Exterior Siding And Renewal Of The Roof Covering). The Wooden Supporting Structures, Both Floors And Roof, Are Extensively Repaired Or Renewed In Both Buildings. The Interior Will Be Adapted To Contemporary Comfort Requirements With A Total Renewal Of All Technologies And The Implementation Of A Lift And New Stair Core. Where Possible, Insulation Is Done From The Inside. Building C Will Also Have A Full Basement. Building B Will Be Demolished And Replaced By A New One-Storey Building Volume With A Gradually Stepped Roof Playground That Connects Building Parts A And C On The Upper Floors. New Building B Will Also Be Equipped With A New Underground Cellar. The Courtyard, Which Is Enlarged By The Demolition Of Building D, Will Be Completely Redesigned. The Previously Filled-In Sint-Pietersvliet Behind Rear Building C Will Be Opened Up Again And Made Accessible To The Public. The Project Aims At Sustainable Heating Of The Heilige Geest Building Via A Combination Of Aquathermal Energy (Heat From Surface Water) And Geothermal Energy (Beo Field). The Application Of Aquathermal Energy Is Part Of A European Interreg Subsidy Project, In Which The Heilige Geestgebouw Functions As A Pilot Project For Sustainable Energy In A Heritage Context. An Underground Circuit Is Being Set Up For The Aquathermal Energy That Takes Water From The Nearby Binnennete On The Mosdijk And Transports It To The Aquathermal Heat Pump In The Technical Basement Of The Heilige Geesthuis. In Order To Realize The Binnennete Circuit, A Suction And Discharge Pipe In One Controlled Underbore Will Be Provided Between The Plot Of The Heilig Geest Site And The Binnennete Via The Kerkstraat 3-5 Plot. At The Binnennete On The Side Of The Kerkstraat 3-5 Plot, Compact Stainless Steel Heat Exchangers Are Provided On A New Steel Structure. The Geothermal Installation (Beo Field) Is Realized By Means Of Vertical Drillings In The Courtyard.
