The “Rheinaue Dormagen Adventure Space” Project Is A Central Project In The Context Of Dormagen’S Urban Development For The Main Town. The Integrated Urban Development Concept (Isek) With Master Plan Describes Measures With Which The City Center Is To Be Upgraded And Better Connected To The Rhine. Southeast Of The City Center And Within Walking Distance, There Are Valuable Open Spaces On The Banks Of The Rhine And On A Hill. The Hill Is Visible From Afar From The Rhine And Offers A View Of The Rhine Surroundings. A Footpath And Cycle Path Along The Dike Provides Connections To The Medieval Zons Customs Fortress As Well As To The Ferry Connections To Monheim And Further North To Düsseldorf-Urdenbach. To The Southwest Is The Cologne Urban Area, Which Is Initially Characterized By The Chempark Along The Rhine, Approx. 700M Away. The Aim Is To Develop An Experience Space That Takes Up The Peculiarities Of The Place And Translates It Into A Strong Landscape Architectural Idea. The Newly Designed Open Space Is Intended To Combine Quality Of Stay, Exercise, Play, Experiencing Nature, Views, Ecological Qualifications And Improved Accessibility Of The Rhine Area. The Place Should Not Be Completely Reshaped; Rather, The Aim Is To Achieve A Differentiated Interaction Between Intensively Usable Areas, Quiet Natural Experience Areas And Inaccessible Habitat Areas. In Order To Achieve The Broadest Possible Spectrum Of Solutions And An Optimal Planning Result, The City Of Dormagen Is Organizing A Two-Phase Open Space Planning Implementation Competition With An Ideas Section.
