Tenders are invited for TGO-Mex Radio Occultation - Expro plus RO occurs when the transmitter of a radio signal appears to set behind a planet, as viewed from a receiving station. The radio signal is refracted by the atmosphere and ionosphere causing a frequency shift; analysing this frequency shift allows reconstruction of a high-resolution vertical profile of density (and thus pressure and temperature) in the neutral atmosphere and ionospheric electronabundances in the ionosphere. Spacecraft-to-Earth RO has been carried out for many decades by planetary missions, but the opportunities for this are limited by the orbital geometry and ground station availability.
