Project: Tender21982 - Shaw Lake Dam Access Road Improvements . The Ministry Of Natural Resources Is Issuing A Request For Bid (Rfb) For Shaw Lake Dam Access Road Improvements. Scope Of Work The Following Is A Brief Description Of The Work: • Place Sediment And Erosion Control And Water Protection Measures, Such As Silt Fences, Flow Check Dams, Dewatering / Silt Trap, Wildlife Exclusion Barriers, And Other Measures Required To Complete The Work In Accordance With The Contract Documents. • Construct All Temporary Works Required To Complete The Access Road, Including Temporary Laydown Areas, Material Storage Areas, And Erosion And Sediment Control Measures As Shown In The Contract Documents. • Construct The Access Road, Including Clearing And Grubbing, Earth Excavation And Grading, Rock Excavation, Drainage Improvements, Installation And Replacement Of Culverts, Placement Of Granular Materials, Geotextile And Geogrid Reinforcement (Where Required). • The Access Road Shall Be Constructed In Accordance With The Contract Drawings And Specifications As A Low-Speed, Low-Volume Road Intended To Provide Construction Access To The Dam Replacement Site And Future Mnrf Maintenance Operations. • Utility Relocation As Required To Complete The Work (Not Anticipated). • Install All Signs As Shown On The Contract Drawings. • Apply Magnesium Chloride Surface Treatment To The Completed Granular Road Surface (Where Required) In Accordance With The Contract Specifications. • Restore All Disturbed Areas And Demobilize From The Site, Including Removal Of Temporary Works, Surplus Materials, And Construction Debris, To The Satisfaction Of The Owner And In Accordance With The Contract Documents. • The Contractor Shall Be Responsible For The Supply Of All Materials, Equipment, Plant, And Labour And Shall Comply With The Applicable Regulations To Carry Out All Works Specified In The Contract Documents. Notwithstanding Anything Else In This Contract, The Contractor Shall Not Perform Any In-Water Work During The Period From April 1 To June 15. The Work May Commence By August 13, 2026 And Shall Be Substantially Completed By February 26, 2027. Optional Site Meeting Shall Be On July 16, 2026, At 9:00Am (Toronto Time). Bidders To Send Message Through The Ontario Tender Portal Messaging System To Confirm Attendance By July 15, 2026 5Pm. The Optional Site Meeting Will Be Held At The Shaw Lake Dam Access Road Entrance, Located Off Highway 129 In The Sault Ste. Marie District, At Utm Zone 17U, Lat: 46.342° N, Lon: 83.521° W. A Location Map Is Provided On Title Page Drawing In Attachment #5 – Contract Drawings. The Meeting Location Will Be At The Entrance To Yates Ln, Off Of Highway 129. Access To The Site Is Via Highway 129, Heading North From Thessalon, West On Yates Ln. Attendees Are Responsible For Dressing According To Site Conditions And Wearing Appropriate Ppe.
