Work Detail
Tenders are invited for Consulting for the Formulation and Completion of the Strategic Plan 20272031 Closing Date: 15 Jul 2026 Type: Consultancy Consulting for the Formulation and Finalization of the Strategic Plan 20272031 Organization: Amazon Frontlines City/Country: Preferably in Ecuador or in the Americas. Modality and/or place of services: Remote with a face-to-face session in Ecuador (Tena or Lago Agrio) Time: 3 months (August - October 2026) About Amazon Frontlines Amazon Frontlines (amazonfrontlines.org) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in the Amazon region of Ecuador. Amazon Frontlines combats the climate crisis by ensuring indigenous management of the Amazon rainforest. We build power together with indigenous leaders to form a bastion of resistance throughout the upper Amazon, working together deep in the forest, in our organizing center in northeastern Ecuador, and in spaces of power globally. Our mission is guided by a commitment to environmental conservation and the empowerment of indigenous communities through partnerships and sustainable practices. 1. Organizational Context Amazon Frontlines works alongside Amazonian indigenous organizations to strengthen their capacities for governance, land management, community monitoring, and defense of their ancestral territories. In this context, it maintains a close collaboration with the Ceibo Alliance and the nationalities that are part of it, providing technical and strategic support to initiatives aimed at territorial protection, comprehensive management of the territory and the revaluation and recovery of culture. The organization has advanced in a strategic planning process aimed at strengthening its long-term vision and organizational structure. This process has been connected to the exercise of collective vision of the nationalities that are part of Alianza Ceibo and a series of spaces and inputs for joint vision and strategic planning between AF and indigenous organizations. The objective of this consultancy is to lead the final phase of the process: structuring, drafting and consolidating the Strategic Plan, incorporating feedback from the management team, the Board of Directors and strategic donors. The result will be a final document, in English and Spanish, ready for graphic design and presentation before the end of 2026. The consultant is not expected to start the process from scratch or carry out new territorial consultations. Their role will be to turn the work already done into a solid, coherent and high-quality strategic document. 2. Objective of the Consultancy Hire a consultant or firm to support the structuring, facilitation, and production of the five-year Strategic Plan (20272031) for Amazon Frontlines, building on existing inputs and developments. The role of consulting is to give strategic coherence, analytical rigor and communicable form to a process that is already substantially advanced. 3. Scope of Services The consultancy covers three work moments, described below. The deliverables of each phase are cumulative and are built on the inputs of the previous period. Phase 1. Screening and diagnosis (Weeks 12) During this stage, the existing inputs of the strategic planning process will be reviewed, including drafts, meeting notes, diagnoses and territorial vision documents developed together with Alianza Ceibo. In addition, one or two alignment sessions will be held with the Executive Director to identify strategic gaps and pending decisions, and propose the structure of the outcome document. Deliverable: Strategic alignment memo (34 pages) with the proposed structure of the Strategic Plan. Phase 2. Strategic Writing and Design (Weeks 38) In this phase, a working session with the leadership team will be facilitated to refine strategic priorities, goals and indicators. Subsequently, the full draft of the 20272031 Strategic Plan will be developed in English, incorporating the regional-thematic programmatic structure already adopted by Amazon Frontlines and iterating with the Executive Director and management team. Deliverables: Full draft of the Strategic Plan 20272031 (1520 pages). Executive summary (2 pages) aimed at donors. Phase 3. Validation and Completion (Weeks 912) The final phase includes accompaniment in the preparation of the presentation of the draft to the Board of Directors, the incorporation of the feedback received by the Board and strategic donors, the final revision of the document and its adaptation into Spanish, as well as support in the preparation of the version ready for institutional graphic design. Deliverables: Final Strategic Plan in English and Spanish. Presentation to the Board of Directors (deck). Final version ready for institutional graphic design. 4. Consulting Deliverables At the end of the consultancy, the following products are expected to be delivered: E1. Strategic Alignment Memo A 34-page document that synthesizes existing inputs, identifies strategic gaps, and proposes the structure of the Strategic Plan. This document will serve as the basis for the development of the following phases. E2. Draft Strategic Plan and Executive Summary Strategic Plan 20272031 (1520 pages), including mission, vision, strategic priorities, goals, indicators, and implementation framework. 2-page executive summary in English, aimed at external audiences and institutional donors. E3. Presentation to the Board Presentation of 1520 slides for the draft Strategic Plan review session with the Board. E4. Final Strategic Plan Final version of the Strategic Plan in English and Spanish, incorporating feedback from the Board of Directors and strategic donors, ready for institutional graphic design. 5. Professional Experience Required Proven experience in strategic planning with international human rights, indigenous rights, land management, or conservation NGOs in Latin America Ability to structure and draft high-quality strategic documents in English and Spanish Experience working in organizations with matrix or multi-stakeholder structures (alliances, regional networks, local partners) Knowledge of the institutional funding ecosystem for global civil society organizations (private foundations, international institutional donors) Ability to work with existing material and turn it into coherent and communicable documents no rework of the process.
