Tenders Are Invited For Public Tender Of Advice For The Danish Nature Agencys Feasibility Study For The Re-Establishment Of Kolindsund

Kolindsund Is A 2,500 Ha Large Dammed Area In The Middle Of Djursland. The Area Stretches Over A 17 Km Long Valley Between Kolind In The West And Grenaa In The East, And The Area Is Distributed Across The Municipalities Of Syddjur And Norddjur. The Study Area For The Preliminary Study Is Approx. 3,600 Ha. Kolindsund Was Originally A Stone Age Sea, Which Later Became A Closed Freshwater Lake. Until 1872, Kolindsund Was Denmarks Largest Inland Lake. The Tender Includes A Feasibility Study On The Regeneration Of Kolindsund. Technical And Biological Advice And Assistance Is In Demand. It Has Been Politically Decided That The Norwegian Nature Agency - With Funding From The Novo Nordisk Foundation, The Nordea Foundation And The Danish Nature Foundation - Must Prepare A Feasibility Study That Examines The Possibility Of Restoring Kolindsund As A Coherent Natural Area. The Preliminary Study Must Provide A Solid And Professionally Founded Decision-Making Basis For A Political Position On A Possible Re-Establishment Of Kolindsund And Must Shed Light On The Attitude Of The Landowners Concerned To Such A Project. The Feasibility Study Must Be Carried Out With A Focus On High Professionalism, Interdisciplinary Work And The Involvement Of Relevant Stakeholders And Landowners, So That Different Perspectives And Interests Together Contribute To Qualifying The Further Work With The Future Development Opportunities For Kolindsund. The Investigations Must, Among Other Things, Uncover The Possibilities For Improved Biodiversity, Reduction Of Nutrient Discharge To The Kattegat, Reduction Of Greenhouse Gases As Well As Synergies With Climate Adaptation In Grenå And The Catchment Area. The Task Also Includes A Property-Related Feasibility Study.
