Kkarus Vzw Is A Psychiatric Hospital And Offers Appropriate Care On The Road To Recovery For People With Psychological Difficulties And Their Environment. To Achieve Their Healthcare Strategic Objectives, Karus Has Drawn Up An Infrastructural Master Plan, In Which The Future Infrastructure Must Enable The Full Rollout Of The Defined Healthcare Strategy. General Principles Of This Master Plan Are: • Centralization Of The Specialized Treatment Offering On The Merelbeke-Melle Campus; • Infrastructure That Contributes To The Healthcare Strategy; • Living And Living Quality: Healing Environment In A Green Environment; • Sustainability; • Efficient And High-Quality Operation; • Quality Working Environment; • External Synergies; • Respect For Cultural Value. In This Phase Of The Master Plan, Karus Vzw Wishes: The Preparation Of A Campus Design Plan For The Entire Psychiatric Hospital On The Campus In Merelbeke-Melle, Based On Karus Current Infrastructural Master Plan. In This Development Plan, The Spatial Organization, Functions And Circulation Structures Are Fully Elaborated. The Plan Translates The Healthcare Vision Into A Healing, Safe And Well-Organized Living Environment, With Attention To Privacy, Therapy, Experiencing Nature And Future-Oriented Flexibility. In Addition, Utilities, Logistics Services And Accessibility For Emergency Services Are Carefully Integrated, So That Efficient, Safe And Robust Functioning Of The Campus Is Guaranteed. Buildings, Landscape And Infrastructure Are Approached Cohesively, With An Eye For Sustainability And Phasing. Renovation Of Existing Buildings The Assignment Includes The Renovation Of Three Existing Buildings Located Within The Historic Campus In Melle: Building M50 – Sint-Jozef: Gross Floor Area Of Approximately 1,700 M², Spread Over Three Floors; Building M9 – Jericho: Gross Floor Area Of Approximately 2,880 M², Spread Over Three Floors; Building M12 – Old Laundry: Gross Floor Area Of Approximately 1,130 M², Spread Over Two Floors. These Buildings Are Part Of The Original Psychiatric Hospital And Date From The Early Twentieth Century. They Have Been Out Of Use For Quite Some Time. The Rough Structure Of These Buildings Offers Opportunities To Accommodate New Functions, But The Building Physical Condition Requires Thorough Adjustments. Although The Buildings Are Not Protected As Monuments, They, Together With The Other Historic Buildings On The Site, Have Been Part Of The Established Inventory Of The Architectural Heritage Since September 14, 2009. The Aim Of The Renovation Is To Make The Buildings Suitable For Housing Departments For (Young) Adults, With Both Day Treatment And Residential Treatment. New Construction In Addition, The Assignment Includes The Design Of A New Construction Department With A Gross Floor Area Of Approximately 3,800 M², Intended For Both Day Care And Residential Treatment Of Children And Young People.
