Construction Work For Pipelines, Communications And Power Lines, For Highways, Roads, Airfields And Railways; Flatwork – Carrying Out Road, Sewerage And Railway Works In Poperingestraat, Dikkelindestraat, Kolegemstraat, Radijsstraat And Hakkenijstraat On The Territory Of The City Of Ghent.. The Present Assignment Concerns The Execution Of Road And Sewerage Works In The Poperingestraat On The Territory Of The City Of Ghent. The Poperingestraat Cluster Project Arose From The Urgent Need To Thoroughly Renew The Infrastructure In Poperingestraat, Radijsstraat, Dikkelindestraat (Between Poperingestraat And Kolegemstraat) And Part Of Kolegemstraat. The Outdated Condition Of The Road Surface And Tram Tracks Has A Negative Effect On The Safety Of Road Users And The Comfort For Residents, Cyclists, Pedestrians And Public Transport. Due To The Poor Quality Of The Tram Tracks, A Speed Restriction Was Introduced In April 2022, And The Tram Was Withdrawn From Service In September 2025. In Addition To The Roads, The Sewerage System Is Also Outdated. The Current System Is Highly Meshed, Which Creates Increased Pressure On The Sewerage Of Grensstraat And Poperingestraat During Heavy Rainfall. This Pressure Is Reduced By Constructing A Separate System (Dwa And Rwa) Within The Project Area. The Poperingestraat Cluster Project Is Therefore A Necessary Intervention To Modernize The Infrastructure, Improve Water Management And Increase The Quality Of Life In The Neighborhood.
