Coping With Increasing Traffic Demand Increasingly Requires The Strategic Use Of Intelligent Telematics Solutions. While Traffic Control Systems (Vba) Have So Far Been Used Primarily On Routes With Special Conditions (E.G. Traffic Peaks, Accident Clusters, Special Weather Conditions), There Is An Increasing Need To Also Consider High-Standard Motorway Sections Through Focused Optimization Of Selected Traffic Parameters. The Research Project Investigates How Vba Can Be Used Effectively With Reduced Technical Effort. The Focus Of The Project Is To Empirically Evaluate The Current Testing Of A Reduced Route Control System (Sba) On The A8 Federal Motorway (Bab). The Effects On Traffic Safety And Traffic Flow Of A Time-Controlled And A Traffic-Dependent Control That Is To Be Developed Are Compared. Based On The Assessment Of The Technical Functionality, Impact And Economic Viability Of The Pilot System, An Assessment Of The Transferability To Other Bab Sections And Federal Highways Is Made. The Results Enable The Derivation Of Criteria And Areas Of Application For Vba With A Reduced Range Of Functions, In Particular Whether It Can Be A Useful Addition For Routes With A Previously Uneconomical Benefit-Cost Ratio.
