The Council Are Developing A New Local Plan And A New Housing Strategy. The New Local Plan Will Formally Be Starting Development Towards The End Of 2026. A New Housing Strategy Will Also Be Developed During 2027. Both Pieces Of Work Need To Be Undertaken Through A Sound Evidence Base. Underpinning The Housing Elements Of The New Local Plan And New Housing Strategy A Strategic Housing Market Assessment / Housing Needs Assessment Needs To Be Undertaken. The Assessments Are Produced In Accordance With Government Planning Policy And Guidance As Set By The National Planning Policy Framework. The Assessment Will Review Knowsley'S Current Housing Market, Current And Future Demographic And Household Projections, Establishing The Need For Future Housing, Assessment Of Affordable Housing Requirements And Identifying The Needs Of Specific Groups. The Appointing Of A Specialist Consultant Will Ensure The New Local Plan And New Housing Strategy Are Robust And Sound, And In Particular For The Local Plan Which Will Be Subject To Public Examination.
