Expression of Interest for Consultancy Services for a Biochar Feasibility Assessment Description GCB Cocoa and IFC are exploring the development of a small-scale biochar project in cocoa-growing communities. The project aims to assess whether agricultural biomass can be converted into biochar in a way that supports soil health, farmer livelihoods, carbon reduction, womens participation and sustainable community development. The feasibility assessment should provide GCB and IFC with clear recommendations on whether to proceed to pilot implementation and what model would be most suitable and scalable. The assessment should consider a range of production and distribution models, including decentralized artisanal systems or VSLA and cooperative-based approaches, to determine the most suitable model(s) for the local context.
