Works Will Include A Comprehensive Suite Of Road Deactivation Treatments Aimed At Restoring Natural Hydrological Function And Reducing Long Term Environmental Risk. Activities Will Involve The Removal Of 18 Existing Log Structures And Re-Establishment Of Natural Drainage Patterns Through Cross Ditching And Water Barres. Additional Treatments Will Include The Removal Of All Culverts, Stream Channel Reconstruction And Armouring At Crossings. Disturbed Areas Will Be Stabilized Using Erosion Control Measures Such As Grass Seeding And Placement Of Woody Debris To Promote Natural Revegetation And Reduce Sediment Transport. The Deactivation Work Is Intended To Minimize Risks To Downstream Aquatic Habitats, Protect Watershed Integrity Within The Dakota Watershed, And Ensure Long-Term Slope And Drainage Stability While Effectively Removing Vehicle Access And Reducing Maintenance Requirements.
