This project aims to achieve the following main objectives: The sectoral objective of the project is to sustainably improve the socio-economic living conditions and resilience of populations and the ecosystem in the transboundary Ubangi River basin. Its specific objectives are: (i) knowledge, protection, and optimal use of the shared water resource in support of the sustainable social and economic development of populations; (ii) the development of resilient water security infrastructure for populations, agriculture, and agricultural processing industries in order to increase regional integration; (iii) the strengthening of regional (CICOS) and national institutional capacities of institutions involved in the management, preservation, and use of transboundary water resources. The PREDIRE Program comprises three (3) components: A. Development of knowledge, governance, and infrastructure assets of the transboundary water resource B. Development of resilient and socio-economic hydraulic infrastructure C. Capacity Building, Coordination, and Program Management Through these three components, the expected support from the PREDIRE Program particularly concerns: Component A: Support for the Development of Knowledge, Governance, and Infrastructure Assets of Transboundary Water Resources. Sub-component A.1: Support for Knowledge and Sustainable Management of Transboundary Water Resources at the Regional Level Sub-component A.2: Strengthening of Infrastructure and Non-Infrastructure Assets for Regional Integration Component B: Development of Resilient Water Infrastructure: Sub-component B.1: Climate Change Resilient Water Infrastructure Sub-component B.2: Support for Sectoral Reform, Capacity Building, and Economic and Social Resilience Sub-component B.3: Investment Preparation Component C: Program Management and Coordination consisting of: (i) technical coordination, (ii) administrative, accounting, and financial management, (iii) management of gender and community development issues, (iv) procurement of goods, works, and services, (v) program monitoring and evaluation, (vi) external audit, and (viii) overall program communication.
