The City Of Brandenburg An Der Havel, Represented By Its Own Company, Central Building And Property Management (Glm), Is Planning An Extension To The Havel School For After-School And School Use In Brandenburg An Der Havel. The Havel School Was Built In 1937/38 As A Local School For The Rolling Mill Settlement On The Western Outskirts Of Brandenburg An Der Havel. The Settlement Was Built In The Early 1930S As Part Of The Local Steelworks On Magdeburger Landstrasse. The School Was Built As A Brick Building By City Building Officer Karl Erbs, Who Was Also Responsible For Planning Larger Parts Of The Settlement. The Settlement Extends Largely South Of Magdeburger Landstrasse, With The Steelworks Opposite In The Northern Area. The Building Complex Was Converted And Expanded Into A School Location For Students With Physical And Mental Disabilities In 2008/2009. In Terms Of Urban Planning And Architecture, The Listed School Ensemble Forms A Unity With Its Surroundings. An Extension Is To Be Built On The South Gable Of The Elongated Main Building. The New Three-Story Extension For The After-School Care Center Will Be Built On The Corner Of Frankenstrasse And Hessenweg With A Direct Connection To The Havelschule. The New Building Shares Some Of The Access With The Havelschule: A Necessary Staircase Is Available In The Existing Building. A Joint Is Planned As An Access Wing Between The Havelschule And The New Extension. There Is A New Staircase And An Elevator For Barrier-Free Access. The School Is Accessed Via The Main Entrance On The Forecourt On Magdeburger Landstrasse. The Main Entrance For The Extension Is The Existing Side Entrance Of The Existing Building On Frankenstrasse. The Forecourt Is Regularly Used For Bringing And Picking Up Children In Minibuses, And There Are Also Some Parking Spaces And Bicycle Parking Spaces For Teachers And Staff. There Are Play And Lounge Areas For Children From School And After-School Care In The Schoolyard Area.
