Tenders are invited for T709-904ga towards a Streamlined Development Approach in Simulators (Expro+) SIMULUS is a framework for the development of space assets, developed by ESA, andavailable to ESA Member States under the ESA Software Community Licence. It is widelyused by European industry to develop spacecraft simulators, both in ESA contracts as wellas commercially. It is predominantly used for the development of operational simulators, thatsupport the training of operators for most ESA missions, but over the years, in particularsince it became available as ESA Software Community Licence, it has gained traction inother areas, e.g. onboard software validation facilities.With new players joining the sector (e.g. New Space) as well as increasing demand oncurrent industrial partners, a common feedback/request is to streamline the 15+ year olddevelopment process currentlyin place, as it is based on outdated/heavy/rigid developmentprocesses (e.g. Waterfall) while the sector is moving toward to more flexible/agiledevelopment approach, as it adapts to a wider family of missions, from cubesats to thetraditional ESA satellites.In todays space context, to support European industry to be more competitive, a simpler,more modern process is required, that not onlyreduce costs but also enables the scaling ofdevelopment of more simulators by industry. In such context, the proposed activity aims tosimplify the development process and the tools that support it, by revisiting the currentapproach in close collaboration withindustry. It is expected to reduce the number of manualsteps required to setup the simulator, the number of tools involved and reducing thedependency on costly 3rd party software.
