The Province Of Flemish Brabant Plans The Construction Of A Water Buffer System On The Terwenberg In Zaventem With A View To Combating Erosion. The Buffer System Consists Of 2 Erosion Ponds That Can Collect And Retain The Run-Off Water From The Fields. They Are Connected To Each Other Through A Squeeze, Consisting Of A Concrete Tube With A Squeeze Plate. The Highest Pool (Erosion Pool A) Has A Buffer Volume Of 1000M3 And Receives All The Run-Off Water From The Upstream Arable Land. The Water Then Flows To The Lower Erosion Pool (Erosion Pool B), Which Has A Buffer Capacity Of 2000M3 And Is Equipped With 2 Infiltration Zones. The Erosion Pools Are Surrounded By A Buffering Earthen Dam. The Earthen Dam Is Up To 80 Cm Higher Than Ground Level And Is About 3 Meters Wide At The Top. The Existing Canal At The Bottom Of The Terwenberg Will Receive The Squeeze And Overflow Water From The Erosion Pools At High Water Levels. The Project Zone Consists Of A Field With Former Agricultural Land. The Total Volume To Be Excavated Is Approximately 3970 M³ With A Maximum Digging Depth Of 200 Cm-Mv. The Infiltration Zones. Of The Total Volume, 2300M³ Are Desired To Be Reused Within This Project. 1670M3 Will Be Removed For Off-Site Use Or For Disposal To A Top. The Project Zone Is Being Investigated On Behalf Of The Province Of Flemish Brabant In The Context Of Determining The Environmental Quality Of The Soil To Be Excavated. The Aim Of This Investigation Is To Obtain A Technical Report Declared Compliant. The Analysis Results Are Tested Against The Vlarebo Conditions For Reuse Of Excavated Soil. This Is To Determine Whether The Soil Can Be Freely Used As Soil, And If Not, In Which Destination Type It Can Be Used.
