Prequalifications For Consulting Services Selous And Nyerere Ecosystem Conservation And Development Project (Sanep)

Prequalifications are invited for Consulting Services Selous and Nyerere Ecosystem Conservation and Development Project (SANEP) Prequalification Ref.: International, open tender for the project Selous and Nyerere Ecosystem Conservation and Development Project (SANEP). Project Executing Agencies: Tanzania National Parks (TANAPA) and Tanzania Wildlife Management Authority (TAWA). Project measures: Tanzania has placed about 38% of its land under protection, including globally important ecosystems such as the Selous-Nyerere landscape, one of Africas largest contiguous protected areas and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. However, this ecosystem faces growing pressure from rapid population increase and the influx of pastoralists, leading to resource scarcity, habitat degradation and rising human-wildlife conflicts. Limited management capacity further constrains effective conservation and sustainable development efforts. The German Government has committed to supporting the Tanzanian authorities in preserving this unique landscape. The project will concern both biodiversity conservation and sustainable socio-economic development within the Selous-Nyerere landscape. The target group of the component regarding socio-economic infrastructure is the poor rural population in the selected districts bordering Nyerere National Park and the Selous Game Reserve. The primary beneficiaries of the infrastructure measures inside of the protected areas are TANAPA and TAWA employees. The project will thus support both the establishment of economic and social infrastructure and the conservation of natural resources through various measures. Requested Consultant services: The projected duration of the project is four years. Services are to be provided by a team comprising of international and local long-term and short-term staff (specialists in management of Financial Cooperation projects, engineering and infrastructure development in the context of protected area management, integrated protected area and border zone management, community development) and other professional and administrative support staff. Efficient management and backstopping services shall be made available. This prequalification for consulting services will be guided by the latest version of the Guidelines for the Procurement of Consulting Services, Works, Plant, Goods and Non-Consulting Services in Financial Cooperation with Partner Countries" (version of January 2019, 3rd update as of July 2024; refer to homepage of KfW Development Bank www.kfwentwicklungsbank.de).It is foreseen to assign the services to an independent consulting firm with proven experience in the sector and the region. Cooperation between international and national organisations is highly encouraged. The minimum annual turnover shall exceed 1,500,000 EUR.
