General Procurement Notice for Recruitment of a Junior Environmental and Social Safeguards Specialist (Ess) to Support Project Implementation Activities The Mono Basin Authority (MBA), comprising two member countries (Benin and Togo), has received a grant from the African Development Bank/African Water Facility (AWF) to finance the Investment Planning and Effective Governance for the Sustainable Satisfaction of Water Uses in the Mono Basin Project (PGEau-Mono). Project Objectives The development objective of the PGEau-Mono project is to contribute to the sustainable satisfaction of water uses through planning, improved governance, water hydro-diplomacy for peace, investment planning, and mobilization of significant financial resources for the implementation of Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM). The project also aims to reduce the adverse impacts and effects of climate change on water resources and associated ecosystems while improving the living conditions of populations within the Mono Basin. Project Components The PGEau-Mono project consists of three (3) components: Component 1: Preparation of the Mono Basin SDAGE and Supporting Documents This component aims to provide the MBA and riparian states with a strategic planning instrument for the sustainable, coordinated, and integrated management of water resources and ecosystems within the basin. The instrument will serve as a reference framework, decision-support tool, and mechanism for prioritizing measures and investments. Component 2: Implementation of Pilot Demonstration Projects The objective of this component is to demonstrate, through practical actions, the feasibility and effectiveness of local solutions for sustainable water management and climate adaptation, including performance monitoring and documentation for future replication. Component 3: Project Management, Coordination, and Monitoring & Evaluation This component aims to ensure efficient, transparent, and participatory project management in compliance with the Banks procedures, including multi-stakeholder coordination, fiduciary management, and results-based monitoring.
