Object And Description Of The Assignment On The Ufo Campus, The Main Building Of Rectorate 1 Is Being Thoroughly Renovated Energetically. The Main Offices Of The Central Administration Of Ghent University And The Rectorate Are Housed There And Will Largely Return After The Renovation. The Highest Level Of The Current Building (Level 140) Will Be Demolished And Not Replaced. This Level Would Not Be Original. The Site On Which The Works Are Planned Is Located In Sint-Pietersnieuwstraat, Adjacent To The Event Center 404, Also Known As De Vooruit. In The East, The Site Is Enclosed By An Open Zone On The Muinkschelde. To The South Are The Ufo Building Of Ghent University, As Well As Other Buildings That Ghent University Manages. In The Context Of Ghent University Transition, The Board Has Decided To Carry Out This Project According To The Nze Principles, Almost Energy-Neutral Construction. The Renovation Process Of Rectorate 1 Includes A Series Of Targeted Measures To Transform The Building Into A Sustainable And Future-Proof Whole. The Focus Is On Several Aspects, Ranging From Insulation And Facade Finishing To The Use Of Sustainable Energy Sources And Smart Technologies. The Existing Building Remains The Starting Point Of The Project. The Existing Generous Ceiling Height On Each Floor And The Grid Of Columns And Beams Offer The Opportunity For Flexible Use And Design, Meaning That Only Limited Structural Adjustments Are Necessary. Overall, This Results In A Renovation Approach That Includes The Complete Dismantling Of The Buildings Interior Down To Its Structure. This Will Bring The Existing Trough Vaults Back Into View. The Facades Are Fully Insulated With Insulation On The Outside And Fitted With New Brickwork With White Exterior Plaster And New Aluminum Exterior Joinery. The Current Elevator Shafts And Non-Compliant Stairwell In The Main Building On The Quay Side Will Be Demolished. A New Elevator And Stairwell Has Been Installed In The Elbow Of The Corridors Of The Main Building And The Reception Building, Serving All Floors. The Large Stairwell With Historical Value Will Be Preserved. To Bring Daylight Into The Core Of The Building, A Spacious Patio Is Provided, With The Restored Chimney Becoming The Eye-Catcher.
