About the FLR Hub in Peru The Forest Landscape Restoration Implementation Hub (FLR Hub) is a project that seeks to contribute to the fulfillment of the Bonn Challenge by providing support and financing tailored to the needs of implementing countries for the application of carbon-intensive forest landscape restoration strategies in order to achieve national climate and development goals. The project is being implemented simultaneously in Brazil, Colombia, Madagascar, Peru, Tanzania, and Uganda. Funded by the International Climate Initiative (IKI) of the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety, and Consumer Protection (BMUV), the project´s implementing consortium is composed by: Lead Institution: International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources (IUCN) Implementing institutions: World Resources Institute (WRI) and World Wildlife Fund (WWF) In Perú, the project implementation is in charge of WRI and WWF Perú and considers as priority landscapes the Amazon regions of San Martín and Madre de Dios. SCOPE OF WORK AND OUTPUTS/DELIVERABLES The goal of the activity is to develop a territorial plan of restoration for a selected landscape composed by a cluster of CUSAF holders in San Martín (with possibility to include other type of enabling titles if necessary), that aligns with PROREST, Ecosystem Map, NDC and NBSAP goals and outlines a path to accelerate private and public investment in restoration. The plan will consider the progress made by the regional government and MINAM and will follow SERFOR´s regulations. Specific activities may include: · Selection of the specific landscape within San Martín region alongside the Project´s national coordinator, with participation of representatives from San Martín´s regional government WWF Perú, and other potential allies. Immediately after the selection a stakeholders mapping will be carried out by the consultant to determinate the key participants of the process (including landholders, governmental authorities, civil society, investors, among others). · Participatory and technical identification of landscape priorities for conservation and restoration, including the prioritization and special planning of measures and practices. This activity is also expected to increase the engagement, motivation, and commitment of CUSAF contract holders. · Identification strategic priority needs regarding capacity building; technical assistance for sustainable management (including monitoring and report); governance and inclusion; and finance (both private and public) to successfully implement and scale up CUSAF. This may include identifying the need of support to the local authorities and not only landowners. · Outlining of a comprehensive territorial strategy of restoration for the selected landscape, considering the elements above and others that might be agreed or demanded by the stakeholders. · Identification of private and public funding opportunities to implement the strategy in collaboration with the regional government and the relevant stakeholders identified. To this end, we recommend following the guide on accessing public and private competitive grants for conservation initiatives developed by WWF Peru. · Graphic design of the Strategy for its release among key stakeholders and publication in Initiative 20x20 and WWF Peru website. This specialized service will be implemented in close coordination with the Regional Environmental Authority (ARA) office of the San Martín Regional Government, under the direction of the Director of Forest and Wildlife Management, as well as designated representatives in coordination with WWF-Peru Northern Landscape and the national coordinator of the FLR Hub Project, on behalf of WRI. The service includes all costs associated with the development of fieldwork and its reporting.
