Supporting Services For The Government – Start-Up Competition And Other Support Offers For Green Start-Ups. Initial Situation The Environmental Economic Strategy Is A Cross-Departmental Policy Strategy Of The State Government Of North Rhine-Westphalia (Nrw). The Overarching Goal Of The Environmental Economy Strategy Is To Make Nrw A Nationally And Internationally Leading Location For The Development, Production And Establishment Of Environmentally And Climate-Protecting Technologies, Products And Services. The Ministry For The Environment, Nature Conservation And Transport Of North Rhine-Westphalia (Munv) Is Responsible For The Implementation Of The Environmental Economy Strategy. In Order To Achieve This Goal, The Promotion Of Green Start-Ups Has Been A Central Component Of The Environmental Economy Strategy Since 2014. Programs Such As Kuer.Nrw And Grüne Gründerungen.Nrw Provide Important Impetus For Supporting Start-Ups. Green Start-Ups Drive The Ecological Transformation And Are Important Drivers Of Growth, Competitiveness And The Creation Of Jobs. In Addition, Green Startups Make A Significant Contribution To Climate Protection Through Their Business Models: According To The Green Startup Report 2026, Green Startups Reduce Greenhouse Gas Emissions By More Than 70 Percent Compared To Standard Market Products And Technologies. With This Diverse Range Of Support, The State Of North Rhine-Westphalia Has Established Itself As A Nationwide Pioneer In Promoting Green Start-Ups: According To The Green Start-Up Monitor Nrw, The Satisfaction Of Green Start-Ups With The Start-Up Ecosystem In North Rhine-Westphalia Is 84 Percent, Significantly Higher Than In Other Federal States. A Start-Up Competition Makes A Decisive Contribution To This As A Cornerstone Of This Support Landscape. It Is Now Important To Consolidate And Expand This Lead. In North Rhine-Westphalia, Green Start-Ups Access To Capital And Established Companies Can Be Expanded. Given The Strong Industrial Base, Its Considerable Financial Strength In Medium-Sized Companies And The Established Financial Industry, It Is Important To Design A Start-Up Ecosystem In Such A Way That Start-Ups, Medium-Sized Companies And Investors Are More Closely Linked To One Another In Order To Develop Innovation Impulses Even More Effectively. Promoting Green Start-Ups Has Become Even More Important Due To The Current Geopolitical Context: Competition For Raw Materials, Political Uncertainties And Trade Restrictions Are Putting A Strain On The Economy. On The Other Hand, A Sustainable Restructuring Of Economic Structures Stimulated By Innovative Start-Ups Ensures Economic Growth, Competitiveness And Independence. Objective In Order To Further Promote The Potential Of Green Start-Ups, The Munv Has Set Itself The Goal Of Specifically Strengthening Innovative, Environmentally Oriented Companies And Thus Opening Up New Markets For Products And Services. The Aim Is To Support Young, Environmentally Oriented Companies, Initiate Start-Ups And Make Them Visible To The Public As Success Stories. By Establishing A Start-Up Competition
