The Principles For The Construction And Financing Of Cycle Paths On Federal Roads Within The Federal Construction Burden Already Contain An Opening Clause For Larger Widths. There Are Still No Objective Evaluation Criteria As To When Additional Breadth Is Necessary And Economical. The Aim Of This Research Project Is To Identify Criteria For The Need For Additional Widths That Go Beyond The Current Standard, Depending On Local Conditions, And To Put Together Relevant Criteria With Their Effect In A Practice-Oriented Manner And Thus To Form A Basis For An Examination Of The Economic Viability Of Additional Widths As Required By The Bho. The Additional Requirements Should Be Prepared Based On Traffic Safety, Economic Efficiency But Also Taking Into Account Other Criteria (E.G. Comfort, Route Choice, Traffic Volumes/Composition/Increase, Land Consumption, Environmental Costs). Starting With The Standard Widths Of Shared Roadside Paths In Out-Of-Town Areas, Needs-Based Design Recommendations Must Be Prepared Depending On Local Conditions.
