Work Detail
Research And Development Services And Related Consultancy Services – Fe 03.648/2024/Orb (R 2603/24) Assessment Procedure For The Dimensioning Of Shared, On-Road Cycle And Pedestrian Paths Outside Of Town. Cycling And Walking Are The Most Climate-Friendly And Environmentally Friendly Forms Of Transport. In 2024, A Total Of 129,374 People Had Accidents Outside Built-Up Areas. Of These, Around 8.7% Are Cyclists And Around 1.1% Are Walkers. Despite The Relatively Small Proportion Of Bicycle And Pedestrian Traffic Accidents, It Should Be Noted That Studies Have Shown That The Number Of Unreported Accidents Involving Pedestrians And Cyclists Can Be High. Outside Of Town, Shared Routes For Pedestrians And Cyclists Make Up A Large Proportion Of The Overall Network, Although These Are Usually Designated As Shared Footpaths And Cycle Paths (Stvo Sign 240) In Two-Way Traffic. For These Paths, A Standard Width Of At Least 2.5 M Is Recommended In The Basic Network; The Application Limits Depend On The Volume Of Pedestrian And Bicycle Traffic (See Era, Fgsv). The Principles For The Construction And Financing Of Cycle Paths On Federal Roads Within The Federal Construction Burden Already Contain An Opening Clause For Larger Widths. There Are Still No Objective Evaluation Criteria As To When Additional Breadth Is Necessary And Economical. The Aim Of This Research Project Is To Identify Criteria For The Need For Additional Widths That Go Beyond The Current Standard, Depending On Local Conditions, And To Put Together Relevant Criteria With Their Effect In A Practice-Oriented Manner And Thus To Form A Basis For An Examination Of The Economic Viability Of Additional Widths As Required By The Bho. The Additional Requirements Should Be Prepared Based On Traffic Safety, Economic Efficiency But Also Taking Into Account Other Criteria (E.G. Comfort, Route Choice, Traffic Volumes/Composition/Increase, Land Consumption, Environmental Costs). Starting With The Standard Widths Of Shared Roadside Paths In Out-Of-Town Areas, Needs-Based Design Recommendations Must Be Prepared Depending On Local Conditions.
