Expression of Interest for Implementation Research to Support the Scale-Up of the Safer Births Bundle of Care Plus (SBBC Plus) Model in Tanzania. Description: In the context of Tanzania, scaling up evidence based approaches are needed to improve quality of care and emergency services, as this will be critical in reducing maternal and neonatal morbidity and mortality. The Safer Births Bundle of Care program (SBBC) is one innovation that was developed and tested iteratively over a decade in Tanzania, whose proven impact on maternal and perinatal health outcomes is supported by rigorous empirical evidence. At this stage, sound evidence is needed about implementation processes and related contextual factors required for effective delivery of the governements adapted model, SBBC Plus, within the routine government health system. The proposed research will support the Tanzanian MOH to lead an evidence-based and context-appropriate approach to scaling up and institutionalizing the new SBBC Plus model to regions where this model is being implemented by the government under World Bank/Global Fiancning Facility financing.
