Alberta Agriculture And Irrigation (Agi) - Water Infrastructure And Operations Branch (Wiob) Is Responsible For The Operation And Maintenance Of Provincially Owned Water Management Infrastructure. The Oldman River Basin And Cypress Hills Area Accounts For Approximately 65% Of This Infrastructure, Including Over 20 Dams, Conveyance Canals And Other Water Management Infrastructure. This Infrastructure Provides Water Security For Irrigation Districts, Water User Co-Ops For Agricultural Water Supply, Commercial Businesses, Domestic Consumption, Municipalities, Recreational Partners, Alberta Parks And Other Individual Users.Maintenance And Repair Work For This Infrastructure Is Critical And Is An Ongoing Focus Of The Branch. Much Of The Work Involves Inspection, Assessment, Maintenance, Repair Or Replacement Of Mechanical, Electrical Or Hydraulic Components.The Successful Proponent Will Provide Mechanical, Electrical And Hydraulic Services On An On-Demand Frequency For Activities Related To Water Management Infrastructure. It May Include Coordinating The Inspection, Repair, Or Replacement Of Related Components Like Gates And Gate Actuators, Hydraulic Lines, Rams, Valves, Piping And Other Associated Mechanical And Electrical Components. Infrastructure To Be Maintained Is Located At Or On The Water Management Infrastructure Operated By Agi. Some Examples Of Maintenance Work Could Include:• Dam Spillway Headworks Mechanical System Maintenance And Repair. • Hydraulic Operator Upgrades Including Pumps, Reservoirs, Piping, Valves, Fittings, Rams, Seals Etc.• Electrical Service And Maintenance.These Services Will Include The Ability To Complete Or Coordinate The Inspection, Removal And Repair Of The Electro-Mechanical Components Of Critical Flow Control Equipment. The General Contractor May Choose To Sub-Contract Specific Inspection Or Maintenance Services To Qualified Specialists.Some Of This Work Will Require Oversight From A Consultant Engineer For Design And Quality Assurance. Involvement From A Consultant Engineer Is Provided Separately. The Oversight May Vary From Project To Project.The Contractor Will Provide Services Under The Direction Of The Project Manager For The Assignment Who Will Identify The Specific Need And Ensure That The Solution Meets The Project Requirements. The Contractor Must Be Able To Provide Experienced And Specialized Personnel For The Completion Of The Activities.Most Of The Work Will Initially Be Located At The St Mary Dam Site To Follow Up On Recommended Services From Previous Inspections And Assessments. The Successful Proponent Will Also Perform Similar Maintenance Activities At Other Water Management Sites In The Areas Local To Cardston, Lethbridge, Pincher Creek, Medicine Hat, Claresholm And Vulcan On An As-Needed Basis.Typical Work May Include But Would Not Be Limited To:• Coordinate Subcontractors, Trades Or Labour To Complete Assessment, Maintenance Or Repairs To Electrical, Mechanical Or Hydraulic Components. • Upgrade Lighting, Replace Switches, Inspect Faults, Install Wiring For Electro-Mechanical Devices Like Motors Or Actuators.• Test And Replace Oil Or Hydraulic Fluids In Gear Boxes And Actuators; Replace Fluids, Seals, Fittings, Hoses, Piping, Valves And Other Items.• Provide Skilled Labour To Facilitate Inspection, Maintenance And Repair Related To Various Components Of The Headworks Water Control Infrastructure.• Provide Skilled Labour And Project Management To Coordinate Removal Or Installation Of Complex Machinery Like Built In Backup Generator; Large Diameter Conduits Gates Or Valves; Elevated Or Below Ground Machinery With The Use Of Cranes Or Hoists.
