(GD) is a humanitarian, non-governmental organization (NGO) that works to promote the right to health for all people especially in underserved regions across the globe - through direct treatment, training, awareness, deployment of volunteer medical professionals and humanitarian aid. Since 2022, GD has been working in partnerships with different local NGOs in Ukraine. GD is seeking an experienced trainer to design and deliver a safeguarding training for our partner organizations in Ukraine. Target Group Project officers, field staff and safeguarding officers or management staff of GDs partner organizations in Ukraine Approx. 20 participants from various Ukrainian organizations In-person training (Kyiv or Odesa) Objective of the Training The training aims to Raise awareness on safeguarding risks in humanitarian and conflict-affected settings; Provide foundational and practical knowledge of safeguarding principles; Strengthen participants confidence and ability to prevent, identify, and respond to safeguarding risks and incidents; Promote a culture of accountability and safe programming within partner organizations. Discuss dos and donts, behavioural red flags and adequate protection mechanisms Scope, Timeline and Format Total duration: approx. 2 full days Planned training date: summer or fall 2026 Training language: Ukrainian (preferred) or English In-person training in Kyiv or Odesa Indicative Content (open to additions) Safeguarding basics (definitions, relevance, key principles) Context-Specific Safeguarding Risks in Ukraine (Risks in conflict-affected and humanitarian settings; Vulnerabilities related to displacement, trauma, and aid dependency; Power imbalances in service delivery; Risks affecting children and other vulnerable groups) Roles and responsibilities Dos and Donts in project planning and implementation Behavioural red flags Identification and analysis of risks (including risk assessment tools) Safeguarding measures and prevention mechanisms Complaint mechanisms, whistleblowing and confidential reporting Handling of incidents (including support for survivors, following a suvivor-centered approach) Ensure alignment with GDs internal Safeguarding Policy, Childprotection Policy, Code of Conduct, and reporting procedures, including practical application exercises. Foster sharing expereinces, best practices and learnings Ensure confidentiality of shared experiences during the training Trainer Profile Requirements Several years of professional experience in the safeguarding field Proven experience working with (I)NGOs and local partner organizations Experience in delivering interactive and participatory trainings Expected Deliverables Design and delivery of the 2-day training Review of existing policies (of GD and partner organisations) as training preparation Provision of training materials (e.g. presentations, handouts) in Ukrainian Use of interactive and participatory methods (e.g. case studies, group work) Conduct pre- and post-training assessments and provide a brief evaluation report on participant learning outcomes and further learning needs.
