General Procurement Notice for Procurement of Goods and Works Shire Valley Transformation Programme-2 (SVTP-2) Procurement of Goods and Works The Government of Malawi has received a Grant from the African Development Bank and Loan from the OPEC Fund to finance the Shire Valley Transformation Programme 2. The total cost of the project is estimated at USD 50 Million net of taxes and duties and the project will be implemented over a period of 6 years. 2. The Project Development Objective (PDO) is to develop a resilient irrigated commercial agriculture and strengthen the management of natural resources in the Program area. The Program aims at providing irrigation to 43,370 ha through the phased construction of a new gravity- fed irrigation scheme to 27,600 ha of agricultural land presently under rainfed cultivation, as well as 15,770 ha of existing irrigation areas that currently use electrical pumps to abstract water from the Shire River.
