Tenders Are Invited For Independent Power Producer For A 30Mwac Solar Photovoltaic Power Plant

Prequalifications are invited for Independent Power Producer for a 30mwac Solar Photovoltaic Power Plant On 30 September 2020, the Government of Mozambique launched the Renewable Energy Auction Promotion Programme (PROLER), which will contribute to increasing electricity generation capacity and diversifying energy sources. The programme prioritises competitive and transparent public tenders for the selection of private investors with the required technical and financial capacity and an interest in developing renewable energy generation projects, leading to lower-cost solutions for consumers. The Government of Mozambique has received funds from the European Union (EU), through the Agence Française de Développement (AFD), to support PROLER, which aims to select Independent Power Producers (IPPs) for solar and wind projects with a total capacity of around 120 MW. Under this programme, the Ministry of Mineral Resources and Energy (MIREME), through the Energy Regulatory Authority (ARENE), is relaunching the prequalification tender to select experienced private investors to develop, finance, design, construct, operate and maintain a 30 MWac solar photovoltaic power plant in Dondo District, Sofala Province. The selection will be carried out through a competitive tender with prequalification, with ARENE acting as the Competent Authority. The invitation to submit proposals is expected to be issued in the second half of 2026, with a detailed definition of the project and a strong requirement for local participation.
