Tenders Are Invited For Forth Road Bridge Impressed Cathodic Protection - Control System Replacement

The Forth Road Bridge Is A Long Span Suspension Bridge Which Carries The A9000 Over The Firth Of Forth. It Was Opened In 1964 And Is A Category A Listed Structure. The Bridge Has A Main Span Of 1006 Metres And Side Spans Each 408 Metres Long. The Structure Supports A Dual Two-Lane Carriageway Without Hard Shoulders. There Are Two Viaducts To Access The Main Span, The South Is 438M And The North 253M That Have Reinforced Concrete Piers. Within The Concrete Piers To The Approach Viaducts And Side Towers There Is An Impressed Current Cathodic Protection (Iccp) Installed In 2008 To Protect The Structure. The Operating System For The Iccp Has Functioned Well Since Installation But Recently, Due To The Dated / Obsolete System, The Control System Requires Replacement To Enable Remote Monitoring And Adjustment Of The Existing Iccp System. It Is Therefore Proposed To Replace The Operation System Of The Iccp To Enable Remote Monitoring And Control Of The Existing Iccp System. This Shall Involve Replacement Of The Operating System, Wiring, Control Panels And Transformer Rectifier. The Replacement System Shall Be Fully Compatible With The Existing Iccp System. A Specification For The Requirements Of The New System Will Be Provided, And The Contractor Will Be Required To Supply, Install, Commission And Carry Out A Period Of Monitoring With Appropriate Adjustment Of The System Following Installation. This Shall Include Monthly Monitoring Reports Issued To Bear Scotland. Additionally, The Replacement System Shall Include A Web Based System With Access For Transport Scotland And Bear Scotland Or Other Representatives. Access Is Anticipated To Be Within A Confined Space, Therefore Suitable Qualifications Will Be Required For Potential Contractors. The Contractor Must Have Demonstrable Experience Of Similar Works. The Contractor Must Also Be Approved To The Applicable Sector Schemes For These Kinds Of Works.
