Tenders are invited for Apple Value Chain Expert. Deadline: Wednesday, 06. May 2026 Area of intervention: Baalbek district (Barka, Deir El Ahmar and Ainata villages), Zgharta (Ehden and Kfarzghab villages) and Bsharri (Bsharri and Blawza villages). Project Donor: The Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID) Consultancy Duration: Starting May 2026 November 2026 Project Main Activities implemented by RMF: The Strengthening Rural Development in Lebanon project is aiming to create a new, more equitable and resilient production system in the apple value chain both at the individual level (small-scale agricultural producers) and collectively (through cooperatives). This will be achieved by improving the productivity and implementing Good Agricultural Practices through capacity building and the adoption of techniques that allow obtaining products of higher quality and competitiveness in the local market. This will include training and technical support to maximize agricultural yield and reduce negative impacts on the environment, as well as improving farm management. It will contribute to the renovation of apple trees and guaranteeing their access to innovative equipment to increase the productivity, profitability and competitiveness of apple producers. Objective of the Consultancy The main objective of this consultancy is to recruit an apple value chain expert that will conduct a comprehensive capacity building program consisting of GAP theoretical trainings for apple farmers in the targeted villages. Scope Of Work The project is targeting 300 apple producers in Barka, Deir El Ahmar, Ainata, Ehden, Kfarzghab, Blawza and Bsharri. The scope of works includes: The consultant will be responsible for developing GAP training modules and delivering the trainings for the selected farmers. Topics will include fertilization, new plantations, weed management, irrigation, pruning, thinning, pests, harvesting, post-harvest, diversification and resilience to climate change and biodiversity enhancement. The consultant will also provide personalized technical assistance and support to the farmers directly in their orchards to ensure that they are able to apply the knowledge and skills acquired during the training. The consultant will be required to provide regular updates and progress reports on the training activities. The consultant will report to the Project Manager at RMF and will work closely with the project team. Competencies, skills and experience All applicants must have: At least 10 years of relevant experience, including experience in capacity building, development and consultancies Experience in developing training materials and/or performing coaching Experience in the apple value chain is a must Good knowledge of the Lebanese climatic and environmental conditions Excellent communication and facilitation skills Excellent writing and presentation skills in English and Arabic University degree in agronomy, agricultural value chain management, agricultural economics, agricultural engineering or related fields. Masters degree or PhD will be highly considered.
