Each year during the Islamic month of Dhul Hijjah, Muslims worldwide slaughter an animalsuch as a goat, sheep, cow, or camelin remembrance of Prophet Ibrahims (AS) profound act of faith in Allah. Ibrahim (AS) demonstrated his willingness to sacrifice his son Ismail (AS), but Allah replaced Ismail with a ram. Allah was so pleased with Ibrahims (AS) submission that He made this act of sacrifice and devotion a lasting practice for Muslims. This event is mentioned in the Quran, Surah As-Saffat (37:102). Accordingly, on the 10th day of Dhul Hijjah, Muslims around the world celebrate Eid Al-Adha by slaughtering an animal to honor Ibrahims (AS) sacrifice.
