Triple-Coded Cryotubes Refer To Cryotubes With A 2D Code On The Bottom Of The Tube And A Barcode And A Human-Readable Code On The Side Of The Tube. The Processing, Storage And Distribution Of The Biobanks Samples Are Based On Established Workflows, Automated Processing Processes And The Existing Equipment And Storage Infrastructure. Samples Are Processed As Large Units, And Their Storage, Picking, Scanning, Processing And Sample Distribution Are Designed To Be Implemented With Uniform Tube And Box Solutions. Long-Term Storage Of Biobank Samples Takes Place At Temperatures Of −80 °C And −196 °C In Deep Freezers Or In The Gas Phase Of Liquid Nitrogen. Samples Are Taken For Research Use According To The Research Need, And The Unique Code Of The Sample Tube Serves As The Samples Identifier. The Human-Readable Code Facilitates And Speeds Up The Picking Of Samples And Minimizes Incorrect Picking. The Samples Are Picked, Checked (Scanned), Processed And Sent In Tube-Specific Boxes. The Handling Of The Samples During Their Entire Life Cycle – Including Storage, Picking, Checks, Handling And Sample Distribution – Must Be Carried Out Using The Same Boxes. Robotics Is Used In The Handling Of The Samples, Which Is Why The Dimensions, Shapes And Compatibility Of The Cryotubes And Tube Boxes Must Exactly Meet The Requirements Specified In The Procurement. Deviating Tube Or Box Sizes Would Require Significant Changes To The Biobanks Workflows, Sample Storage Arrangements And Processing Processes, As Well As Additional Resources For Daily Operations. This Would Weaken The Smoothness Of The Operation And Jeopardize The Efficient And Error-Free Processing Of The Samples. For The Reasons Mentioned Above, The Dimensioning And Compatibility Requirements Of The Tubes And Boxes Are Mandatory And Necessary In The Procurement To Ensure The Continuity, Quality And Overall Economics Of The Biobanks Operations. The Caps Of The Cryotubes Must Be Compatible With The Capping And Opening Equipment Used By The Biobank, So That The Tubes Can Be Processed In Existing Processes Without Additional Investments Or Additional Costs For The Procurement Unit. Possible Adapter Solutions Required For Compatibility Must Be Implemented In Such A Way That They Are Suitable For The Procurement Units Current Equipment Base And Daily Use. The Length Of The Procurement Period Is Three (3) Years, After Which The Procurement Unit Has The Option Of One (1) Year Option.
