Dam Construction Work – Open. The Project Is Planned For Fr. Almopaios, In P.E. Pella. The Construction Site Of The Dam Is Located At A Distance Of Approximately 4 Km North Of The Kali Settlement Of The Municipality Of Skydra. The Dam Is Intended To Be Rock-Cast With An Impenetrable Central Core. The Construction Materials Are Obtained From The Necessary Excavations, From Borrow Pits And From Quarry Areas To Be Developed By The Contractor Within The Flood Basin Or Approved Quarries In The Area. The Elevation Of The Riverbed At The Axis Of The Dam Is +44.00 And The Elevation Of Its Crest Is +105.00. Therefore The Maximum Height Of The Dam, From The River Bed, Is 61.00 Meters. The Crest Of The Dam Is 245 Meters Long And 12 Meters Wide. The Main Barrier Is Integrated Into The Body Of The Dam, Which Has A Crest Elevation Of +74.00 And The Protection Embankment Against The Upstream Return Of Overflows Is Integrated Into The Downstream Slope. The Accompanying Works Of The Dam, The Overflow, Diversion And Water Intake Works Are Placed On The Left (Eastern) Abutment. The Spillway Is Lateral With Fusegates Mounted On Its Crown. The Diversion Pipe Is Constructed On The Left Abutment With Open-Air Excavations And Backfilling (Cut & Cover). The Diverted Waters Are Guided To The Entrance Of The Diverter Via A Trapezoidal Ditch. An Auxiliary Diversion Embankment Is Constructed To Divert The Waters Towards The Ditch. The Diversion Project Is Combined With Water Intake And Discharge Projects. The Leaching Pipe For Transported Materials Is Constructed On The Left Abutment, At Low Altitudes Close To The Natural River Bed. The Fish Passage Project Is Placed On The Right (West) Elevation And Consists Of A Tower Within Which A Fish Passage Channel Is Constructed In Corridors (Ramps) From The Top Of The Tower To Its Base, As Well As A Channel That Will Lead From The Base Of The Tower To The Downstream River Bed. Briefly, The Project Includes: • Rock-Cut Dam With Central Impermeable Core • Upstream Main Dam Integrated Into The Body Of The Dam • Lateral Spillway On The Left Abutment With Inlet Canal, Ogee Equipped With Fusegates, Lateral Collector Canal, Fall Canal, Stilling Basin And Escape Channel For The Channeling Of Flood Benefits. • Diversion Pipe With Open-Air Excavation And Backfilling (C&C) In Combination With The Discharge - Water Intake Works, On The Left Abutment. • Dams For Protection Of Upstream Areas • Drainage Pipe • Fish Passage Facilitation Project
