This assignment - titled The Displacement Dividend: Building the Business Case with Global Evidence on the Economic Role of Forcibly Displaced People - will be implemented over an indicative period of six (6) months. It will involve: Systematic mapping of prevailing myths, biases, and dominant narratives around the economic participation of displaced populations across diverse geographies (HIC, MIC, LIC, FCV contexts). Global review and synthesis of quantitative and qualitative evidence demonstrating their contributions in employment, entrepreneurship, value-chain integration, private-sector service delivery, and financial inclusion. Development of validated indicators (including fiscal contributions and financial health metrics) for countering misconceptions and informing policy and private sector engagement. Stakeholder engagement with displaced-led organizations, private sector actors, policymakers, and development agencies to validate findings. Production of key deliverables: myth & bias mapping report, comprehensive evidence-based report, global stakeholder mapping, private-sector pitch book, dissemination materials, and recommendations for a potential Phase 2 innovation component involving machine learning/AI-driven evidence updates. This study will directly support the IFC-UNHCR Joint Initiative on Private Sector Solutions in Forced Displacement, IFC Investment Services (IS), IFC Advisory Services (AS), and external stakeholders, in leveraging the private sectors capacity to create sustainable economic opportunities for forcibly displaced people and host communities.
