Hydro-Electric Plant Construction Work – Pumpspeicherwerk Grimsel 4 - Bauhauptlos. The Psw Grimsel 4 Uses The Existing Potential Between The Two Existing Reservoirs, Grimsel And Räterichsbodensee, With Two Machine Groups Without Additional Water. Due To The Short Distance Between The Two Lakes And The Existing Plant Components, An Economically Attractive Power Plant Can Be Realized With The Psw Grimsel 4. In Addition To The Reservoirs Mentioned, The Project Uses Other Existing Parts Of The System, In Particular The Development And Supply Systems Of The Existing Power Plants On The Grimsel, As Well As The Grimselsee Inlet Structure With Throttle Valve Chamber, Which Was Already Implemented In Connection With The Replacement Of The Spitallamm Dam (Pre-Investment In Grimsel 4). The New Structures To Be Constructed Generally Include The Continuation Of The Upstream Headwater System From The Throttle Chamber With A Flat Section And Pressure Shaft, The Cavern Center, The Underwater Headwater System With Underwater Tunnels And Outlet Structure As Well As Additional Development Tunnels. The New Power Plant Has A Total Output Of 150 Mw With An Expanded Water Volume Of 70 M3/S And Closes The Existing Bottleneck In The Hydraulic System Between Grimsel And Räterichsbodensee. This Means That Grimsel 4 Not Only Supports The Smoothing Of Load Profiles, But Also The Stabilization Of Voltage And Frequency In The Transmission Network. The Psw Grimsel 4 Is Also Able To Be Operated In A So-Called Hydraulic Short Circuit. Part Of The Pumped Water Is Immediately Turbined Again Without Completely Going Through The Storage Circuit. This Mode Of Operation Allows You To React Very Quickly To Changing Network Conditions Without Having To Interrupt Pumping Operations. This Significantly Increases The Power Plants Ability To Respond And Makes It An Extremely Valuable Tool In Modern Grid Operations. In Addition To Energy Production, Psw Grimsel 4 Also Offers System Services Such As Primary, Secondary And Tertiary Control.
