On January 1, 2025, The Updated Urban Wastewater Treatment Directive Entered Into Force, According To Which Member States Must Remove Micropollutants From Pharmaceuticals And Cosmetics In Certain Wastewater Treatment Plants. In Order To Achieve This Goal, The Directive Foresees The Implementation Of The Fourth Cleaning Step And The Development Of An Extended Producer Responsibility System (Epr) To Finance It. The Result Of This Analysis Must Reveal What The Actual Socio-Economic Impact Of The Epr Requirements Is On The Market Of The Pharmaceutical And Cosmetics Sector In Estonia, Including Product Prices And Market Stability.
