An Absorbable Wound Closure Device Consisting Of An Absorbable Barbed Suture Connected To A Surgical Needle On One Side And Looped On The Other. The Notches And Loop Are Designed To Allow Fabrics To Be Joined Together Without The Need To Tie Knots. Made Of Synthetic Polyester: A Composition Of Glycolide, Diaxanone And Trimethylene Carbonate. Available In Both Undyed And Purple. The Absorbable Wound Closure Device Is Sterile Packaged, Inert, And Does Not Contain Antigenic Structures. Indications: Intended For Juxtaposition Of Soft Tissues When The Use Of Absorbable Suture Materials Is Possible. Safety And Effectiveness Have Not Been Established For Suturing Fascial Defects (Abdominal Wall, Chest, Fascial Defects Of The Extremities), Interintestinal And Vascular Anastomoses, In Neurosurgery, Ophthalmology And Microsurgery. Application: Causes Only A Minimal Inflammatory Tissue Reaction, Which Is Associated With The Gradual Formation Of Fibrous Connective Tissue Around The Thread. Gradual Loss Of Strength And Complete Absorption Occurs Through Hydrolysis: The Absorbable Wound Closure Device Breaks Down Into Glycolic And Diaxanonic Acids, Propanediol And Carbon Dioxide, Which Are Metabolized In The Body. Duration Of Wound Support: At Least 90% Of The Initial Strength Is Maintained During The First Week, Not 75% During The Second Week After Implantation. Sterilization: Ethylene Oxide. Absorption: Absorption Begins With A Loss Of Strength Without Significant Loss Of Mass. Animal Studies Indicate That Complete Absorption Is Complete Between 90 And 110 Days.
