Tenders are invited for Development of European Sealing Materials Compatible with Propellant Liquids Expro+ Objective: To develop European sealing materials compatible with propellants and highly oxidizing media.Description: Perfluoroelastomers with mineral fillers are used as inert sealing materials in propulsion systems. The currently used materials are of mainly US origin. The formulations of the materials undergo regular changes, e.g. in filler materials or the polymer system, which may lead to their obsolescence. On the other hand, they are considered as strategic materials and their testing with the use of propellants is expensive. Thus introduction of European alternatives would be highly advantageous and would possibly help to avoid high qualification costs. This material shall be compatible with such propellants as hydrazine and monomethylhydrazine, as well as oxidizing media, such as dinitrogen tetraoxide. No content of potential catalysts of propellants decomposition or REACH-affected ingredients is allowed. This activity encompasses the following tasks: - Market research to identify all currently existing solutions, - Identification of the starting formulations, - Testing and optimization of these preliminary formulations, taking into account a long-term storage requirement applicable for many space missions, - Development of a breadboard demonstrator in form of small machined O-rings, - Testing of the breadboard demonstrator to prove the application-relevant properties, in particular compatibility with the selected media over typical mission lifetime, - Final summary and assessment of application constraints of the newly developed O-rings.Deliverables: Breadboard, Report.
