Work Detail

røværsholmen Fyrstasion - Painting Of Tower And Renovation Of Residential Extension. . Description1.0 Kystverket Lighthouse Stations, History The Third Lighthouse At Røvær Is Still Alive And Well. Around Ten Kilometers Northwest Of The Center Of Haugesund Lies The Røvær Archipelago. Today, It Is Less Than Half An Hours Journey By Shuttle Boat From The City. It Took Considerably Longer In The Past, But It Was Probably Not An Obstacle. Archaeological Finds From The Stone Age Indicate That Even Then There Were People Who Fished On The Islands. Settlements Have Been Found From The Viking Age That Indicate Permanent Settlement. During The Rich Herring Years Of The 19Th Century, There Were Many Permanent Residents, And In High Season As Many As 20,000 Fishermen Could Stay On The Islands Close To The Fishing Banks. Because Of This Fishing, Lighthouses Were Built On Both Glette And Gitterøy, But It Eventually Turned Out That The Need Was Greater. In The Spring Of 1891, The Lighthouse Service Started Building A Lighthouse On Røværsholmen, In The North Of The Archipelago. The Islet Was Small And Low, So A Cast-Iron Boiler Was Needed, Which Was Placed On A Solid Stone Plinth. Much Of This Stone Also Came From The Lighthouses That Were Taken Down At Lista Lighthouse In 1873. The Lighthouse Keepers Residence Was Located Next To The Lighthouse And Was Cast In Concrete. It Provided Space For A Lighthouse Keeper And His Family As Well As An Assistant. In Addition, A Boathouse Was Built In The Same Material And A Powerful Landing With A Crane. The Sea Passage Around The Islet Was Usually So Large That It Was Necessary To Lift The Boats Ashore. The Lighthouse Was Completed In 1892 And Was In Operation As A Family Station For A Good 60 Years Before It Was Converted Into A Tower Station. In 1961, Røværsholmen Lighthouse Received Electricity From Shore, And In 1975 It Was Automated And Unmanned. The Lighthouse Stood Empty For A Long Time, But For A Few Years It Was Operated As A Visitor Lighthouse By The Company Ravnafloke. In 2020, Ravnafloke Was Closed Down. The Røværsholmen Lighthouse Friends Association Was Established In 2025 And Is Now In The Process Of Opening The Lighthouse Station To The Public.
