Bids Are Invited For Rfp-26-006 Emerging Sector Strategy - Technology And Energy Sector Final

Rocky View County (The County) Is Undertaking An Emerging Sector Strategy To Better Understand And Plan For The Potential Development Of Facilities That House Computing Equipment, Including Data Centers And Related Uses. The County Is Seeking A Qualified Consultant To Prepare A Comprehensive Research And Policy Support Report To Inform Future Land Use Planning, Infrastructure Coordination, And Economic Development Decisions.The Study Will Identify And Assess The Spectrum Of Computing-Related Uses That Could Reasonably Be Supported Within The County, Ranging From Smaller-Scale Facilities To Large Or Hyperscale Developments. The Analysis Will Examine Required Resource Inputs, Opportunities For Co-Located Or Adjacent Facilities, And Potential Impacts On Surrounding Lands. Given The County’S Rural Context, Particular Emphasis Will Be Placed On Interactions With Agricultural Activities, Including Both Opportunities For Support And Potential Impacts Requiring Mitigation.The Project Will Also Consider Broader Implications Such As Environmental And Operational Impacts, Emergency Response Considerations, Decommissioning And Reclamation Practices, And Potential Tax And Assessment Outcomes. In Addition, The Study Will Assess How The County Can Align With Relevant Provincial And Federal Strategies, Including Those Related To Data Centers, Artificial Intelligence, Mature Assets, And Digital Sovereignty. The Final Deliverables Will Be A Comprehensive Report Intended To Support The County’S Emerging Sector Strategy And Future Policy Development.
