To mitigate the risks from debris proliferation and the surge in launch traffic, state-of-the-art regulations are evolving. For instance, under the ESA Space Debris Mitigation (SDM) Requirements (ESSB-ST-U-007 Issue 1, Nov. 2023), a re-entering spacecraft must not pose an on-ground casualty risk exceeding 10^-4. Consequently, at end-of-life, satellites must either perform a controlled reentry, which incurs enormous system-level impacts, or fully demise upon reentry. To achieve the "Zero Debris 2030" goal, it is crucial to ensure the demisability of all LEO satellite equipment. Optical communication terminals are being adopted on many LEO spacecraft as a solution for efficient data transmission, especially in the case of constellations that require high-speed data transfer capabilities.The demise behaviour of optical communication terminals has not been characterized yet and several areas of concerns have been preliminary identified, particularly regarding the presence of optical elements and their related supporting structures. Therefore, the systematic investigation of the demise behavior in terms of critical parts, fragmentation and identification of solutions to enhancedemisability of optical communication terminal is considered of high priority for the uncontrolled re-entry LEO platforms.Procurement Policy: C(2) = A relevant participation (in terms of quality and quantity) of non-primes (incl.
