Tenders are invited for Apple Irrigation Expert. Background: The René Moawad Foundation is currently implementing the Strengthening Rural Development in Lebanon project funded by the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID). The projects main aim is to create a new, more equitable and resilient production system in the apple value chain both at the individual level (small-scale agricultural producers) and collectively (through cooperatives). The project is being implemented in 7 villages: Bcharre, Blawza, Kferzghab, Ehden, Ainata, Barqa & Deir el Ahmar. Under the scope of the project, 150 farmers will be assisted with upgrading their irrigation systems by procuring required irrigation supplies. Objective: RMF is seeking to recruit an irrigation expert that will assess the existing irrigation systems at the apple farmers orchards who are benefitting from the project and recommending the most appropriate systems to be used to increase apple tree efficiency and production. Scope of Work: The selected expert will: Visit a sample of orchards (5 to 10) to observe current irrigation systems in place (2 days allocated) Make a recommendation on the most appropriate irrigation system (taking into account apple tree requirements, water scarcity (in several clusters), water access challenges (in several clusters)). (4 days allocated) Approve the proposed list of required irrigation accessories /parts so a public tender can be launched or proposing other parts if necessary.
