Architectural Services For Outdoor Areas – City Of Schönewalde / Schlosspark Ahlsdorf - Natural Restoration And Education For Climate Protection, Property Planning For Outdoor Spaces. The Core Area Of The Castle Park Covers 15.67 Hectares, Of Which Approx. 7.6 Hectares Consist Of Wooded Parkland And 6.2 Hectares Of Meadow Areas. The Park Serves As A Local Recreational Area With Historical Significance And Regional Interest, But Has No Longer Been Open To The Public Since 2024 For Traffic Safety Reasons. The Aim Is To Preserve And Care For Trees And The Herbaceous Layer To Support Humus Formation. Replacement Planting Of Trees And Shrubs That Can Cope Better With Heat And Drought Should Be Carried Out. These Are Selected From The Proven Spectrum Of Climate Trees. So-Called Partner Trees Are Planted Near Prominent Trees That Are Considered Particularly At Risk In The Inventory And Are Particularly Important From A Natural And Monument Preservation Perspective And Are Intended To Replace Them At Some Point After Their Death. They Are, So To Speak, A Glimpse Into The Future. This Is An Easy-To-Communicate Aspect In The Sense Of A Comprehensible Explanation Of Climate Resilience. The 200-Year-Old Trees Are Being Impaired In Their Development By The Increasing Amount Of Dead Wood. Falling Branches Pose A Danger To Visitors. The Trees Are Suffering From Increasing Drought As A Result Of Rising Temperatures In Recent Years And Decades. The Tree Population, Consisting Of Various Species Of Oak, Beech, Hornbeam And Maple, Is Exposed To The Stress Of Periodic Drying Out Of The Deeper Subsoil, Which Leads, Among Other Things, To The Death Of Old Tree Specimens. The Large Island-Like Location Within Larger Agricultural Areas In The Immediate Surrounding Area Offers No Protection From Warm Winds. The Stress Of Periodic Drought Is Compounded By The Fact That The Soil Is Predominantly Sandy. One Component For The Future Is To Ensure Barrier-Free Development And Thus Contribute To Improving Accessibility And Usage Options. The Aim Of The Renovation Of The Listed Park Is To Optimize The Spatial Structure And At The Same Time Preserve The Historical Character. Replacing Lost And Felled Old Trees With Young Trees And Supplementing With Shrub And Perennial Planting Increase The Parks Ability To Bind Greenhouse Gases. The Targeted Measures Make A Large Contribution To Climate Protection. The Current Requirements For Energy Efficiency And Sustainability Should Be Taken Into Account. The Combination Of The New Planting Of Trees And The Renovation Ensures Sustainable Use Of The Listed Park In Ahlsdorf. In Addition, A Focus Is Placed On Biodiversity In The Castle Park, For Example Through Extensive Conservation And Planting Measures, Such As: - Sowing Insect-Friendly And Drought-Resistant Meadows - Planting Bee-Feeding Trees - Creating Breeding Grounds For Birds, Insects And Small Mammals - Creating Benje Hedges From Dead Wood
