A Regional Water Supply General Plan Was Drawn Up For The Vaasa Region In The Province Of Ostrobothnia In 2010. The Special Needs Of The Region Are Ensuring The Development And Continuity Of Common Water Supply Services, Increasing The Operational Reliability Of Facilities, Further Deepening Cooperation, Coordinating Land Use, Ecological Sustainability Of Solutions (Carbon Neutrality And Circular Economy) And Increasing Preparedness And Taking Various Forces Of Change Into Account. In Water Supply, The Need To Identify And Remove The Slow-Downs And Obstacles To The Development Of Regional Cooperation And Structural Change, And To Find Out New Ways To Cooperate Between Water Supply Facilities, To Promote Regional Cooperation And Structural Change In Water Supply Towards A More Appropriate Facility Structure, Has Also Been Emphasized. Because Of These Reasons, The Current Water Supply Master Plan Will Be Updated Into A Common Water Supply Plan For The Entire Vaasa Region That Extends To 2040. The Finnish And Swedish Plan To Be Prepared Is Intended To Serve As A Common Water Supply Development Document For The Entire Region During The Years 2027–2040. The Plan Serves Municipalities And Water Supply Facilities In Decision-Making And Acts As A Catalyst And A Source Of Up-To-Date Information For More Detailed Plans, Such As, For Example, The Municipal Water Supply Plan Required By The Water Supply Act (119/2001). The Plan Also Supports The General Development Of The Region And The Implementation Of The National Water Supply Reform Program, The Goal Of Which Is The Industrys Ability To Adapt, Reform And Anticipate Changes, As Well As Maintain Its Position As A Cornerstone Of Sustainable Development And A Matter Of National Pride.
