Background Information: Emergency management, with its five stages (prevention, mitigation, preparedness, response, recovery), has had an integral role in reducing the vulnerability of communities to the impact of predictable and unpredictable disasters. The Med region is fraught with increasing frequency and severity of transnational compounded shocks, ranging from natural disasters (earthquakes, floods, forest fires, etc.), human-made crises such as conflicts and wars to pandemics, causing mass injuries, loss of lives, destruction, and displacement, all of which are leaving a heavy toll on the most developed healthcare systems. In parallel, advancements in Artificial Intelligence (AI) bring about opportunities to not only transform health risks governance but also healthcare access, equity, and system resilience in the face of emergencies and crises. The experience of the past few years, highlighted the need for multi-stakeholder transnational efforts to develop innovative solutions to enhance resilience in the face of those complex and protracted challenges.
