IFCs mission is to create opportunities for people to escape poverty and improve their lives. IFC is currently assisting a commercial banking client in Indonesia to enhance its Environment and Social Management System (ESMS) and to strengthen the clients capacity for effective ESMS implementation. The client offers a comprehensive suite of financial services, including loans, savings and current accounts, e-banking, remittance, and priority banking. Updating the banks ESMS is critical to ensure ongoing compliance with evolving regulatory requirements, international standards, and stakeholder expectations. An updated ESMS will improve the banks ability to identify, evaluate, and manage emerging environmental and social risks, thereby enhancing risk management and overall business resilience. Additionally, this demonstrates the banks dedication to responsible finance and sustainable development, reinforces stakeholder trust, facilitates access to green finance opportunities, and strengthens the banks long-term competitiveness. To support the ESMS update in accordance with IFC requirements, a team of Social and Environmental Safeguards experts with substantial experience in the Indonesian banking sector will be engaged. OBJECTIVES The objectives of the assignment are to: Review the Clients existing Environmental and Social Management System (ESMS) policies and procedures against IFCs ESMS assessment and applicable requirements for financial institutions. Provide practical and actionable recommendations to strengthen the Clients ESMS, with particular attention to higher environmental and social (E&S) risk transactions, and support the Client in enhancing its policies, procedures, and tools accordingly. Review the Clients existing E&S training plan and provide recommendations to strengthen capacitybuilding arrangements in support of effective ESMS implementation. Design and deliver E&S training workshops for the Clients staff, including provision of qualified training facilitators, with the objective of strengthening internal capacity to implement the ESMS effectively.
