Work Detail
Excavating Work – Excavation Of The Middle Section Of The Freihafenelbe Bridge. The Subject Of This Tender Is The Dismantling Of The Middle Superstructure Of The Free Port Elbe Bridge Planned By The Hamburg Port Authority (Hpa). The Building, Which Was Completed In 1926 And Is A Listed Building, Carries Road Traffic Across The Norderelbe And, As Part Of The Elbe Bridge Family, Opens Up The Part Of Hamburg South Of The Elbe. The Bridge Consists Of Three Individual, Identical Single-Span Girders (North - Middle - South) With A Span Of Around 100 M Each And A Width Of Around 20.8 M. The Weight Of A Superstructure Is Around 2,900 T Including Expansion Loads (Of Which Around 2,200 T Are Steel). It Is A Truss Arch Bridge That Was Originally A Combined Road And Railway Bridge. Due To The Condition Of The Structure And The Static Recalculation, Only Limited Use For Traffic Is Possible And The End Of The Planned Period Of Use Has Been Reached. Due To A Ship Collision With The Middle Superstructure, The Bridge Is Completely Closed To Road Traffic, Pedestrians And Cyclists. The Passage Under The Middle Superstructure Is Also Closed To Shipping Traffic. The Closures Cannot Be Lifted Because The Damage Cannot Be Repaired. However, The Closure Of The Middle Passage Must Be Lifted At The Beginning Of 2027 In Order To Enable Construction To Begin On The U4 Extension. It Is Therefore Necessary To Excavate The Damaged Middle Superstructure Earlier Than Originally Planned. The Measure Includes The Following Contents: - Floating Of The Middle Superstructure. - Dismantling And Reusing/Recycling The Superstructure, Which Is Partially Coated With Hazardous Substances. - Coordination With The Approval Authorities (Office For Occupational Safety, Bukea, Etc.) - Obtaining The Necessary Approvals (Water Law And Shipping Police Approval, Etc.) Extensive Pollutant Analyzes Were Carried Out, The Results Of Which Can Be Summarized As Follows: Base Coating All Steel Components Of The Bridge Are Coated With Red Lead As A Base Coating. This Base Coating Of Red Lead Also Lies Between All Components That Are Riveted Together. The Content Of Lead Metal Is In The Double-Digit Percentage Range. Top Coat A Top Coat Containing Asbestos And Pahs Is Applied Above The Base Coat To All Steel Components In The Area Of The Road Up To Approx. 1.50 M Above The Top Edge Of The Sidewalk. The Coating Of The Steel Components Above Also Contains Lead, But Also Chromate (Chrome Vi) And Zinc.
